Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park is located in Oyster Bay, Long Island. The tree consists of 409 hectares of lawns, forest trails, official gardens, plant collections and greenhouses. The original historic properties on the Gold Coast include Coe Hall, a beautiful 65-bedroom Tudor Revival Mansion open to the public.
The house features original antique furniture from the Coe family, stunning paintings and stained glass. The site was designed by the famous Olmsted brothers from Brookline, Massachusetts, and is visited annually by thousands of visitors who come to enjoy the timeless beauty of the sample trees, stunning greenhouses and various recycled gardens. Long Island Aquarium & Exhibition Centre, Riverhead, N.Y. – 1 hour 30 minutes
For family fun, head to the Long Island Aquarium &Exhibition Centre, located in Riverhead, Long Island, just an hour and a half’s drive from New York. Located around the lost city of Atlantis, the exhibition and aquarium centre features a wide range of marine and river animals, as well as educational exhibitions and exhibitions focused on improving the importance of marine life and environmental protection.
The aquarium has one of the largest coral reef posters in the Northern Hemisphere, a 120,000-gallon shark wash full of sharks and other fish, numerous contact pools where children can learn by touch and sea lion shows all year round. The glass house is a world-famous architectural gem and historic National Trust site in New Canaan, Connecticut. Built between 1949 and 1995 by American architect Philip Johnson, the glass house is located atop a 49-acre landscape of Herders, consisting of fourteen structures, including an award-winning glass structure.
The Glass House (1949) also houses a permanent collection of paintings and sculptures from the 20th century, as well as a variety of temporary and evolving exhibitions.
