Davey's Ice Cream

Cookies and cream, Davey's Ice Cream

Davey Yoo left his career as a graphic designer to become an ice cream maker, opening Davey's Ice Cream in the East Village in September. We tried a cookies and cream (top) and a black pepper watermelon sorbet (bottom), both handmade in the back, beneath Yoo's framed certificate from the Penn State Ice Cream Short Course. While the cookies and cream was milky rich and nicely balanced, the sorbet stole the show: each bite began with the brightness of icy watermelon and concluded with the piquant brace of pepper. We look forward to seeing what gets scooped in coming months.
